Departing from Trelleborg
Trelleborg is Sweden’s southernmost city and one of Scandinavia’s busiest ferry gateways, pairing efficient continental links with Viking history and an easy-going Skåne coast.
Trelleborg has grown around its strategic location at Sweden’s southern tip. Ferries dominate the harbour, yet the compact centre immediately inland retains cafés, shops and parks that make it more than simply a transit point.
Trelleborgen, a reconstructed Viking ring fortress, is the city’s signature historical attraction. It recalls the late Viking Age and gives travellers a useful introduction to the archaeology and settlement history of southern Skåne.
The waterfront is known for its seasonal palm trees, an unusual sight at this latitude, while the surrounding coast offers beaches, cycling and open views across the Baltic. Smygehuk, Sweden’s southernmost point, is a popular short drive east of the city.
Trelleborg is also well placed for Malmö, Lund and Copenhagen. Malmö is less than an hour away by road or rail, allowing ferry passengers to combine an overnight crossing with a larger city break or onward journey across the Öresund region.
Food and accommodation options are concentrated around the centre and station, which is useful for foot passengers. Drivers can quickly reach the E6/E22 motorway network for onward journeys north through Sweden.
The Port of Trelleborg is the practical reason many visitors arrive. TT-Line operates routes to Rostock, Travemünde and Świnoujście, while Stena Line also runs the high-frequency Trelleborg–Rostock service, giving travellers several options for reaching continental Europe.
Use the terminal or pier named on your TT-Line confirmation. The published departure is the sailing time; check-in and vehicle acceptance close earlier. If reaching Trelleborg by train or bus, allow for the transfer from the station to the harbour and for luggage handling.
