How FerryEU UK handles enquiries, technical information, cookies and embedded third-party booking services.
For personal data handled directly through ferryeu.co.uk, the data controller is FerryEU. Privacy enquiries and requests can be sent to info@ferryeu.com.
Where applicable, FerryEU processes personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 as amended (including amendments made by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), and applicable rules governing cookies and similar technologies.
Contact information: name, email address, the topic you select and the content of a message sent through the FerryEU contact form.
Technical and security information: IP address, browser/device information, timestamps, requested pages, referral information and server/security logs generated when you use the website.
Cookie and measurement information: information generated by cookies, tags or similar technologies where these are used and permitted.
Information you choose to provide: any other information you voluntarily include in an enquiry. Please do not send payment-card details, passport numbers, health information or other sensitive data through the general contact form.
We use contact details to answer the enquiry you send and technical information to operate the website and prevent abuse. Where relevant, the basis is our legitimate interest in responding to requested enquiries and maintaining a secure service, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where it is required.
This UK edition does not load Google Tag Manager or a FerryEU analytics tracker. The contact form uses a necessary session cookie for request validation and abuse prevention. Hosting systems may keep technical security logs.
Embedded ferry booking forms are supplied by Direct Ferries and connect your browser to that provider. Its privacy notice and controls apply to information entered in the booking service and to its technologies. Hotel, train and other external booking links lead to separate providers.
FerryEU contains links that take users to ferry-ticket, accommodation or other travel services. Unless a FerryEU page expressly states otherwise, personal information, payment information and booking details entered after you follow a link to another service are collected and controlled by that service under its own privacy notice and terms. FerryEU does not ask you to send payment-card details through its general contact form.
We may use service providers that support website hosting, security, email delivery, technical maintenance, analytics or tag management. They may process limited personal data on our behalf or as independent controllers depending on the service. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect legal rights, or to investigate fraud, abuse or security incidents. FerryEU does not sell personal data.
Some website or service providers may process data in countries outside the UK or European Economic Area. Where data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, appropriate legal transfer mechanisms or other permitted safeguards should be used.
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. Contact enquiries are retained only while needed to respond, manage follow-up, maintain appropriate business records or deal with a legal or security issue. Technical logs are retained according to operational and security needs and the retention settings of relevant service providers. Data may be kept longer where required by law or needed for legal claims.
Depending on your location, the type of processing and the lawful basis used, you may have rights to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to certain processing. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
To exercise a privacy right, email info@ferryeu.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
If you are in the United Kingdom, you have the right to raise a data-protection complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). If EU data-protection law applies to you, you may also have the right to complain to the competent supervisory authority in the EU Member State where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred. We encourage you to contact FerryEU first so we can try to resolve the concern.
FerryEU is a general travel-information website and is not designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the contact form without appropriate authority, please contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
We may update this policy as FerryEU changes, service providers change or legal requirements are updated. The latest version will be published on this page with a revised date.
