A historic Mediterranean island capital surrounded by beaches, coves and an extensive fast-ferry and overnight ferry network
Ibiza is much more than its famous nightlife. Ibiza Town combines a busy Mediterranean harbour with Dalt Vila, the fortified upper town whose walls and historic core form part of a UNESCO World Heritage listing.
Inside the old walls, steep lanes lead past viewpoints, churches and whitewashed buildings towards the cathedral. Below, the marina and harbour districts are packed with restaurants, shops and evening activity.
Beyond the capital, Ibiza’s appeal comes from coves, pine-covered hills, beach clubs, quiet villages and viewpoints across the western coast. Ses Salines, Cala Comte and the landscape around Es Vedrà are among the island’s most recognisable experiences.
Ferries are also central to island life. Fast services make Formentera an easy day trip, while longer routes connect Ibiza with Mallorca, Menorca and mainland ports including Dénia, Valencia and Barcelona.
Because operator and berth arrangements can change by route and season, passengers should check the terminal instructions attached to the actual booking rather than relying only on a general port location.

Ibiza Town is the departure gateway for the Formentera crossing. Several ferry services use the harbour, so check the precise quay and operator on the ticket before arranging a transfer.
Pin the precise ferry terminal before travelling to Ibiza. Some towns have separate passenger quays, vehicle terminals and excursion-boat landings. The operator’s address on your confirmation is more useful than a town-centre map pin.
For a car journey, leave a margin for the final approach, queueing and check-in. Without a car, confirm the last part of the journey from the railway station or bus stop. A short map distance may involve port roads or areas closed to pedestrians; use a confirmed transfer or walking route.
Keep your booking reference and required documents accessible. If you need step-free boarding, help with luggage or space for a bicycle, arrange it before the day of travel. Small piers and large vehicle terminals can offer very different facilities.
Plan each sea leg as a separate part of the trip. Check the arrival port, transfer distance, vehicle restrictions and the time before the next sailing. A ticket sold by one company or booking provider does not automatically create a protected connection with another.
Check your arrival time against accommodation check-in and the next transport service. If this is an island stay, organise the return ferry before fixing a mainland flight or a long-distance train. The outward and return ports do not have to be the same, but separate tickets can have different conditions.
